Istanbul for the Locals
A series of 5 books that investigates Istanbul—one of the oldest cities in the world in
3 different categories: Food & Drink, Shopping and Recreation. Each book is devoted to
a certain section of the city that is selected by its diversity of sources. Each section has a
map that are color coded accordingly with the categories in order to show 100's of locations.
I used Semacodes—a 2D coding system which is primarily aimed at being used with cellphones which have built-in cameras, to quickly capture a website address for use in
the phone's web browser. I coded each location with their website url, a brief information
and their address. This enabled the users take a look at the books before they leave the house, take a picture with their cell phones and go explore the place since they can
have the information with them.
